So I’ve almost lost all the weight I added since last Nov. 7 lbs to go to get to where I was :-/ I’m happy about it but I’m also mad about it too. All that work and stress to re do what I had already done.

Goals. Making them, keeping them.

Time to set them. Time to keep them.  I am setting the goal of dropping 60 lbs by this date next year. I’m also setting a half way goal of 30 lbs by August 1st.  I know what to do and what not to do, my worst enemy is me.  I’m posting this here to keep me accountable. I’m not looking for praise, or seeking recognition.  I’ve got a lot of work to do, and setting this expectation should keep me on target. I’m pretty sure no one is reading this and for this purpose that’s fine. I had a friend mention that I had stopped talking about goals, and was worried that I was happy being under 200lbs for the first time in my adult life. I kinda was, but I’m far from done (but it is cool weighing less than my little brother for the first time in my life), and it occurs to me that I’m not happy, as a matter of fact I’ve been feeling pretty depressed. I don’t like how that makes me feel, so time to pick myself up dust off my knees and get busy.

So I got out for a short ride today, thinking I was over the bronchitis I picked up the day before Thanksgiving; only to find out otherwise. I had started out to ride, it was raining pretty hard so I decided to go for a walk instead, headed out but the rain stopped so I turned around and went for the bike ride instead. I was planning to do the Telford loop, but my lungs hurt so bad I cut the ride short and just did the south end part of the loop. Still the new shifters Don put on the Trek work very well I like them! Much better to have them on the stem than on the bar ends for me. I’m keeping my balance and holding my line better .

Back to the Gym

So today marks the return of rain and winter weather fast approaching.Time to retreat to the gym, lots of cardio & resistance will be my focus. I can’t put fenders on the felt, but my Trek already has them so hopefully I won’t be off the bike completely!

Have a nice summer, see you in the fall

As with any sport or activity in life there is always good and bad. Bad is falling off the bike. I did fall, but wasn’t seriously hurt. Technically it was a bike accident, I was on a bike ride, but it wasn’t really a bike accident. I was stopped at a 4 way stop, the fall was because I pinched a nerve in my hip and my right leg couldn’t support my weight. I went down and scraped the heck out of my right elbow. Happened on Sunday the 30th, got home ok but haven’t been able to ride since. Much better this morning. I’m hoping to be back on the bike by the weekend.  Frustrating, because every day is getting closer to winter weather, and I can’t put fenders on the bike. Once it turns nasty I’m off the felt until spring. I do have the Trek, and it does have fenders. So I should be able to get some rides in.

Strava, my iphone & me

So I was at my local bike shop today and the shop guy asked me if I had an iphone, I admitted that I did, and he recommended searching the app store for bike apps. I found a whole bunch of them! I remembered an add during the Tour de France for Strava and I had read an article about it so I checked them out. The app is free but has a pro version you can upgrade to. I’ve downloaded the free version, it works pretty well. I wanted to embed a widget so if anyone wanted they could go look at it but right now it’s beyond my blogging skills. Perhaps later! Nice thing is now I don’t have to guess my milage or average speed over time, so now I’ll know if I’m making progress or just dinking around.
